Get ready for your first call
What to set up and what to bring to your first call with AveryIQ, so the whole call goes to your business.
Updated

On your first call, we set up AveryIQ with you. To do that, we need to see your screen and help on your computer. Please do these steps a day or two before the call. They take about 30 minutes.
The call uses your phone and your computer at the same time. We talk and see your screen on the computer. You try AveryIQ on your phone. So you need both, side by side, the whole time.
You need:
- Your phone
- A Mac or Windows computer with a camera and microphone (a laptop is best)
- The Google Chrome browser on that computer. Get it at google.com/chrome.
- The password for your Apple ID (iPhone) or Google account (Android)
- Good home or office Wi-Fi. Not a hotspot from your phone. A hotspot drops the call, and your phone needs its own connection to use AveryIQ.
Each step ends with a test. If the test works, check the box. If you get stuck, skip it and email support@averyiq.com. We'll fix it before the call, not during it.
1. Put AveryIQ on your phone
Do this on your phone, not your computer.
iPhone: First get the free TestFlight app from the App Store. Then open the AveryIQ TestFlight invitation on your iPhone. Tap Accept, then Install.
Android: Open AveryIQ on Google Play on your phone and tap Install.
You don't need to set anything up in the app yet. We'll do that together.
Test: You can find the AveryIQ icon on your home screen, and it opens when you tap it.
- AveryIQ is on my phone
2. Join Google Meet with your camera and microphone

We meet on Google Meet. Use your computer for the call, so we can see your screen. Your phone is for trying the app.
- On your computer, open Chrome and go to meet.google.com.
- Sign in with your Google account (your Gmail, or your work email if it runs on Google). No Google account? Make a free one at accounts.google.com.
- Click New meeting, then Start an instant meeting. This is a test meeting with just you.
- If Chrome asks to use your camera and microphone, click Allow.
Test: You see yourself on the screen. When you talk, the small sound lines next to your name move.
Camera or sound not working?
- Mac: Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security. Click Camera and turn on Google Chrome. Do the same under Microphone. Then quit Chrome and open it again.
- Windows: Open Settings, then Privacy & security. Click Camera and turn on camera access for desktop apps. Do the same under Microphone.
- In Chrome: Click the icon to the left of the web address and turn on Camera and Microphone.
- Close Zoom, Teams or FaceTime. They can hold on to your camera.
Leave the test meeting open for step 4.
- I'm signed in to Google Meet
- I can see myself
- My microphone picks up my voice
3. Set up Chrome Remote Desktop

Chrome Remote Desktop is free from Google. It lets us help on your computer during the call, but only when you give us a code. We can't see or use your computer at any other time.
- In Chrome, go to remotedesktop.google.com/support.
- Under Get Support, click the download button. Add the Chrome extension when it asks.
- Open the file that downloads and install it. Your computer may ask for your password. That's normal.
On a Mac, you must also turn on two settings. Without them, we can see your screen but can't click or type. Fixing this on the call takes a long time, so please do it now:
- Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security.
- Click Accessibility. Turn on ChromeRemoteDesktopHost.
- Go back and click Screen & System Audio Recording. Turn on ChromeRemoteDesktopHost here too.
- Quit Chrome and open it again.
Don't see ChromeRemoteDesktopHost in the list? Click +, then find it under Applications, in the Chrome Remote Desktop folder.
On Windows: Click Yes when Windows asks if the app can make changes. Nothing else to turn on.
Test: Go back to remotedesktop.google.com/support and click Generate Code. You see a 12-digit code. Don't send it to anyone. You'll make a new one on the call.
Does your brokerage manage your computer? It may block the install. If so, email us and we'll plan another way.
- I can make a 12-digit code
- On a Mac: both settings are on
4. Share your screen in Google Meet (backup plan)
If Chrome Remote Desktop doesn't work on the day, you can show us your screen in Meet instead. This step is optional, but it saves time if you do it.
- In your test meeting from step 2, click Share screen at the bottom.
- Pick Entire screen, click your screen, then click Share.
- When you're done, click Stop sharing.
On a Mac, the first time you do this, your Mac may say Chrome isn't allowed to record the screen. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Screen & System Audio Recording. Turn on Google Chrome. Quit Chrome, open it again and try once more.
Test: While you share, the meeting shows your whole screen, not just one tab.
- I can share my whole screen in Meet
5. Bring 25 people and your goals
On the call, we put your people into AveryIQ together. Avery can't help with people she doesn't know about, so this is the most important step.
Bring at least 25 people you want to work with. Leads, past clients, people from open houses, friends who might move. Any format is fine:
- A spreadsheet or a file from your old CRM
- Lead emails from Zillow or other sites, still in your inbox
- Paper sign-in sheets from open houses
- Names in your phone's contacts
- Your KW Command contacts
- A list you write down by hand
Don't clean it up first. Avery sorts it out. If it's a file, have it on your computer, ready to open.
Bring your goals. Write down what you hope for, big and small. How many homes do you want to sell this year? How much time do you want back? What would make next year your best one? We'll set up AveryIQ around your goals. Save your other questions for our second call.
- I have at least 25 people ready to add
- I wrote down my goals
You're ready

This call is time with the founder of AveryIQ, set aside just for you. To get the most from it, treat it like a listing appointment.
On the day of the call:
- Be on time. Join from the link in your calendar invite 2 minutes early. If we start late, we cover less.
- Sit at a desk. Not in the car, at a showing or walking around. You'll need both hands, your computer and your phone.
- Use real Wi-Fi. Connect your computer and your phone to the same good Wi-Fi. No hotspots.
- Plug in. Charge your phone and plug in your laptop. Turn off Low Power Mode on your phone.
- Find a quiet room. Use headphones if others are around.
- Block the whole time. Don't book a call or showing right after. Silence other calls if you can.
- Have Chrome open, with Google Meet working from step 2.
Can't make it, or running late? Email support@averyiq.com as soon as you know, and we'll find a new time.
Something didn't work? Email support@averyiq.com before the call and tell us which step. A real person will help.
